Description: Our premium Japanese Sencha Leaf Green Tea is hand-picked in the first harvest from the Uji district in Kyoto, Japan. Grown under strict USDA Organic standards, the small family farms also practice sustainable farming to ensure rich soil and optimum growing conditions for generations to come. The first harvest of green tea leaves are the highest in nutrients, while less expensive sencha teas are made from later harvests. The first harvest each spring is referred to as shincha—meaning new tea— which is highly coveted for its vibrant freshness. Only the top leaves, shoots, and buds of the Camellia sinensis plant are harvested to produce sencha. Green tea has many health benefits, including boosting the metabolism, being rich with antioxidants that fight free radicals, decreasing inflammation, lowering cholesterol, and boosting your immune system. We bring you only the best of Japanese Sencha Green Tea Leaves for your health and enjoyment!*
Flavor Profile: Rich, earthy top notes greet your senses, with undertones of fresh vegetables (some happy customers describe the undertones as vegetal with the slightest hint of fresh seaweed).
Ingredients: 100% Certified Organic, Certified Fair Trade: first harvest, Sencha Leaf, Green Tea (Camellia sinensis). While having less caffeine than a cup of coffee, green tea does naturally contain caffeine.
Before using: It’s always a good idea to consult a health care provider before use if you may be pregnant or are nursing, have allergies or medical conditions, or are taking medications. Naturally caffeinated. Keep away from children. *Statements not evaluated by the FDA.
Brewing a good cup of herbal tisane/tea: Brew hot or cold! The longer you steep the herbs, the more the tannins will be released (that’s the bitter taste). We prefer to add more herbs to the cup/container rather than steeping too long. Experiment to find YOUR preferred steeping time.
Hot Brew: place the desired amount of loose-leaf herbs in a cup or teapot, and pour hot water over the herbs to keep all the good aromatics inside! Cover the container and steep for 3 to 15 minutes (to your desired taste). Do not use boiling water, just nice hot water. Once steeped, strain with an infuser and enjoy!
Cold Brew: Place herbs in a glass jar or other suitable container and pour cold or room-temperature water over them. Cover the container and either leave it on your sink for up to 30 minutes for “sink tea” or place it covered in your refrigerator for up to 2 hours. Strain with a tea infuser and enjoy!
